New Orleans, Day Two

I was excited to get to see the Audubon Zoo as I had never been before.  We were very impressed...  We picked the perfect day to go because we had a really good rain shower midday and it cooled things off SO much!

The white tiger was my favorite!

Grady's such a little turkey...  He refuses to take pictures most of the time and this gets on my nerves so much!  (I know he knows this and does it deliberately!  AGHHH!)  Faye figured out that you have to sneak up behind him when he's looking at an animal or something and ask him a question, camera ready and aimed...  Then when he turns around to answer you, you snap the picture...  Works sometimes, but you usually get an odd face...  Drives me nuts...  So this is about the best picture you get:

Thank goodness for strollers that recline!  Vera went to sleep just before the rain hit and she slept through the entire rain shower!

When the rain first broke out unexpectedly, we ran under a tree to keep from getting soaked.  We stayed there for 5-10 minutes until it slowed to a sprinkle.  We decided to walk on and as soon as we rounded the corner, it started pouring again.  We ran into the giraffe exhibit and there was the perfect spot under a little hut to stay dry during the rain.  We stayed there for about 20 minutes and got a chance to really watch the giraffes up close and personal.  We learned that they did not like to stand out in the rain either!

Vera, meeting an endangered species turtle.  She has no fear!  She also tried to touch the tarantula but the zookeeper lady didn't let her get that close!

Stay tuned for more!

How sweet! Vera loved the flamingos at the Jackson zoo and looks like she loved them there too! :)

Love Grady's muscle shirt too! ha! :)
